Kevin Avison Visit SWF Kevin Avison will be visiting our school this week for several days. Last summer he offered to give a talk to parents and the College of Teachers has made contact with us to arrange same. As he will be visiting Mol an Óige, us and ALFA over several days, his schedule is tight. For those of you unfamiliar with Kevin, he is the Steiner Waldorf Fellowship rep who mentors our school. He has been a teacher also and liaises with not only the Steiner schools in Ireland, but also in England and is very familiar with schools who receive state support there. He has a wealth of experience and is a really inspirational speaker. The full title has to be confirmed with him but it will be dealing with the Steiner Ethos within the national school system. As such, this is very topical and relevant. The talk will be on Friday 24th February from 8-9.30pm in the main school building. This would be a great opportunity for parents to hear about this topic and dialogue around the issue. We would really like to have as many as people as possible there. I do appreciate that evenings can be difficult but, given the importance of the issue and how relevant it is at this juncture in the school’s development. Looking forward to seeing you there, Michèle (Coleman) on behalf of the PA committee
“When is your child ready for main school?” The New Parents Group (as always open to all interested) invites to you a talk by Jonathan Angus (Waldorf teacher). 9 am, Tuesday 28 February, (Handwork room) How can you know when the time for kindergarten is over and a child is ready to step into class one? What should you do if you feel your Class 1 / Class 2 child is over-challenged by school tasks? Come and join us for this, a discussion and coffee/tea. Maybe even cake!
